Abbey Hill Golf Club is a friendly, well-established golf club with a proud community spirit and an active membership of more than 350 members.
Founded in 1975, the club was built around Abbey Hill Golf Course, which is owned by the local council and now operated and maintained by Burhill Golf Limited. The current clubhouse, owned by the club, was built in 1989 on land leased from the local council.
As a registered Community Amateur Sports Club, Abbey Hill is committed to providing enjoyable, well-organised golf in a welcoming and sociable environment. Whether you are an experienced golfer, a returning player, a new member, or someone looking to become part of a local club community, Abbey Hill offers a warm welcome.
Golf at Abbey Hill
The club provides a full programme of competitions throughout the year across the Men's, Ladies' and Seniors' sections. These competitions give members regular opportunities to play, meet others and enjoy structured club golf in a friendly setting.
Through its affiliation with England Golf, Abbey Hill also provides members with an official World Handicap System handicap, allowing them to play at courses where handicap certificates are required.
More Than Golf
Abbey Hill is not just about competitions and scorecards. The club has a strong social side, with members enjoying the clubhouse, events and opportunities to spend time with friends away from the course.
Social memberships are available for those who want to enjoy the club atmosphere without playing golf regularly. The main function room can accommodate up to 150 guests and is available for private hire at a minimal cost to members, subject to conditions.
